Threat no more

Recently, Penang Gerakan chairman, Datuk Dr. Teng Hock Nan requested the Malaysian government to allow former communist leader who is currently living in exile in Bangkok, Thailand; to come home to Malaysia for good.
As expected, vociferous voices opposing such a move are being heard, loud and clear.
Their collective cause was stopped in its track when Anwar Ibrahim, the de-facto opposition leader lends credence to Teng's exhortation by asking why were Shamsiah Fakeh and Rashid Maidin pardoned and allowed to come back?

Anwar certainly hits the right note as all along, some Malaysian Chinese have been secretly asking themselves, why the double standards? Could it be due to their ethnicity that they were excused?

The argument that both Shamsiah Fakeh and Rashid Maidin were used by Chin Peng holds no water. These two have blood on their hands as well by the virtue of their association with the outlawed Communist Party of Malaya.

Whether it is Anwar's ploy or otherwise, the Malaysian government certainly has a lot to answer, with strong justification at that.
